When I was little, I thought only roses and cactus had thorns. Whenever my hands were pricked by roses, my palms bled bright red with blood.
I thought that if roses had no thorns, I could picked them and enjoy the fragrance and beauty to my hearts content.
However, it is said that if someone cut all the thorns off the stem of a rose, the flower would not bloom.
Even if thorns seem annoying and useless, I learned it is an important element for the life of a living being.
It seems that there are various thorns in our lives. We wish those thorns wouldn't be is our lives.
The apostle Paul prayed to God to get rid of his thorn in the flesh but instead, he received the answer that "my grace is sufficient for you."
Many good things don't come wrapped in shiny golden boxes we love.
The world is full of stories of heroes who turn their thorns into crowns of glory.
What are your thorns that you wish would disappear?
I like the part about when you remove thorns from a rose, the rose won't be able to grow properly. It's so indicative of our lives. :)
